Whiteboard

Your drawings stay in your files.

Whiteboard privacy notice · Updated 9 October 2026

Whiteboard is provided by Lumin PDF, Inc. This notice explains the data practices of Whiteboard’s hosted editor and local-file integration. Read it alongside Lumin’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

Drawing files

On supported desktop hosts, Whiteboard reads and saves an ordinary .excalidraw file through the host’s file-resource APIs. The file stays in the chat workspace on its execution device. Whiteboard’s hosted service supplies the editor; it does not upload or store your drawing contents, embedded images, or a server backup through this file-editing workflow.

In the standalone browser and mobile fallback, the drawing stays in the open page until you import or download a file. Download your work before leaving. This version does not automatically save browser drawings or synchronize them between devices.

Using the agent

When you ask the agent to read or change a drawing, its contents may be processed by OpenAI under your host’s terms, settings, and applicable privacy policy. Local storage does not mean that content you ask the agent to process stays offline.

The host provides Whiteboard’s endpoint with the file name and an opaque resource identifier when opening a file. The editor also supplies the host with the open file’s name, resource identifier, save state, and version token so the agent can identify the current drawing. These identifiers are metadata, not a public sharing link.

Hosting and support

Vercel hosts the editor, assets, and MCP endpoint. Hosting requests disclose connection metadata such as IP address, requested URL, request time, and browser or client information. Operational records support delivery, troubleshooting, and security. Whiteboard’s application code does not log drawing contents or add advertising, behavioral analytics, Whiteboard accounts, or payment collection.

If you contact support, Lumin receives the information you send. Include only the information needed to explain the issue. GitHub issues are public, so do not attach private drawings or personal information there.

Retention and deletion

Local drawings remain until you or your device or workspace management removes them. Delete the file to remove that local copy and manage backups separately. Uninstalling Whiteboard does not necessarily delete files created with it. Whiteboard cannot recover a deleted drawing from a hosted backup.

Hosting and support records are handled under Lumin’s Privacy Policy and the hosting provider’s retention settings, including operational and applicable legal retention requirements. To request access to or deletion of personal information held by Lumin, contact us below. OpenAI conversation data, files shared with OpenAI, and device backups are managed separately by those services.
